Design a Network Project Paper Assignment help
Design a Network Project Paper Assignment help
Undergrad project:
You are in charge in designing the network for a medium size business. The business is located in a single building with three floors. The first floor has 120 PCs, the second floor has 120 PCs, and the third floor has 250 PCs. In addition each floor will need to support VOIP phones and printers. For each PC there will also be a VOIP phone. Lastly each floor will have at least 50 printers. All devices will have their own IP address, but the VOIP phones and printers do not need to access the Internet. Your business has been allocated 66.250.0.0/23 IP address space by the ISP to connect to the Internet. The ISP has also allocated an IP address to your external router for connecting to their router. That IP address is 66.250.255.254/30. You may also use RFC 1918 address space as needed.
Your design needs to use generic network equipment. Assume the router(s) have the number of interfaces you need. Also assume the switches only support one network per switch and have 48 ports on each switch. You will need to diagram out the network with the network information, structure of the network, IP address information, and connectivity to the ISP. Assume Ethernet for the link types with the business purchasing 100Mbs of Ethernet to the ISP. You will make the rest of the decisions concerning the number of Ethernet links and their bandwidth. The business out-sources its servers and wireless, so you do not need to include them. The network diagrams are to be done in PowerPoint using the network icons provided. The PowerPoint needs to be easily viewed and not cluttered. I do not need an icon for every PC, phone, etc. So you will need to find a way to convey the information compactly. The write up on the project explaining the diagram and how the overall structure supports the requirements of the project will be done in Word. The files are to be uploaded on Blackboard individually (not zipped) with the filenames ECE4325_lastname_project2.docx and ECE4325_lastname_project2.pptx.
Graduate project:
You are in charge in designing the network for a large size business. The business is located on a campus with three buildings each having three floors. In the first building the first floor has 270 PCs plus a server farm that has 90 servers, the second floor has 130 PCs, and the third floor has 155 PCs. In the second building, the first floor has 130 PCs, the second floor has 85 PCs, and the third floor has 90 PCs. In the third building, the first floor has 150 PCs, the second floor has 140 PCs, and the third floor has 80 PCs. In addition each floor will need to support the same number of VOIP phones as the number of PCs on the floor. Each floor will have at least 50 printers. Also you will need to support a wireless network on each floor and with twice the number of wireless clients as PCs per floor. Each AP can only support 25 clients. Your business has been allocated up to 69.155.0.0/16 IP address space by the ISP to connect to the Internet. The ISP has also allocated an IP address to your external router for connecting to their router. That IP address is 66.250.255.250/30. You may also use RFC 1918 address space as needed. The VOIP phones and printers do not need to access the Internet but the PCs and wireless clients do. Assume Ethernet for the link types with the business purchasing 1Gbs of Ethernet to the ISP. You will make the rest of the decisions concerning the number of Ethernet links and their bandwidth. You may also use RFC 1918 address space as needed. You must decide how much IP address space to use while returning the remaining portion back to the ISP since you have to pay for every IP address used. You will also have to subnet on CIDR block boundaries with the entire public IP address space used by business contained within a single CIDR block. This means only one IP route will be advertised to the Internet. The server network will be separate from the PC networks. The wireless networks can be separate from the PC network per floor or they can be combined with the PC network on each floor. You will have to determine the number of APs needed and the applicable IP address space needed.

You must justify all design decisions in your write-up and illustrate them in the presentation.
You will be graded on the following:
- One CIDR block advertised to Internet. (Graduate Students)
- No overlapping subnets.
- Subnets are correctly sized.
- Clear diagram(s) that accurately conveys the network architecture.
- Clear write-up that describes the decisions made.
- Clear justifications of the decisions in the write-up.
- Appropriate use of public / private IPs
- Appropriate use of routers.
- Appropriate use of switches.
- Appropriate use of Aps. (Graduate Students)
